Geography
Binh Phuoc is a mountainous, ethnical border province, in the Southeast region of Vietnam, 150 Km North West from Ho Chi Minh City. With the total natural area of 6,854 km2 and the population of more than 800,000 people, Binh Phuoc is the home of 41 ethnic groups. It borders Cambodia to the west, Dak Nong and Lam Dong Provinces to the north, Dong Nai and Binh Duong Provinces to the east and Tay Ninh Province to the south.  Binh Phuoc still has some forests and most cultivated land is used to grow rubber, coffee, cashew nut, and pepper.
Climate: There are no cold winters. The annual average temperature is 27oC. The temperature reaches its highest level (from 37-37.2 o C) in March, April and May and its lowest level (19 o C.) in December. The rainy season lasts from May to October and the dry season lasts from November to April next year. The annual average rainfall fluctuates from 2045 to 2325 mm.

Ethnic Minority groups
The main Minority groups living in the Province are the Kinh, Xtieng, Hoa, Khmer, Tay and Nung.

Economy

Binh Phuoc is one of the agriculturally most productive provinces of Vietnam, especially relying on cash crops such as cashew nuts, and rubber. In 2007 its agricultural GDP per capita was 7.03 million VND the highest in Vietnam, while industrial GDP per capita was only 1.7 million VND, making it one of the least industrialized provinces in the southern half of Vietnam. Binh Phuoc's GDP in 2007 was 9534.4 billion VND or 11.58 million VND per capita, which is 86 per cent of the national and significantly lower than that of the other provinces in the Southeastern region.

Agriculture

Agriculture in Binh Phuoc is mostly perennial crops - cashew nuts, rubber, coffee, and pepper. Only a small part the agricultural area is suitable for growing rice and corn. Some sweet potatoes and cassava is grown in Binh Phuoc, mainly by Ethnic Minority farmers.

The most important cash crop is cashew nuts grown mostly in the east and south of the province. Another important crop is rubber which is mostly produced in the north and west of the province.

Coffee is grown in the northeast of the province with some cocoa being experimentally grown in Bu Dang District.

Industry

Industry and construction are minor contributors to the economy of the Province. Most of the industries are based on agricultural products or raw materials such as food processing.  

Population.

Binh Phuoc is a predominantly rural Province, with only around 15per cent of the population living in towns. Binh Phuoc's population in 2007 was 823,600.
